World Cup Les Contamines

WOW....maybe the best skicrossing ever.

2010 FIS World Cup Skicross at Les Contamines, France, is quite possibly the best race in the history of skicross.  We will just have to interview a bunch of skicrossers to get the final results, but, after reviewing the race action, I think you will agree that the French at Les Contamines are amazing.

World Champion Tomáš Kraus put in some blazing runs making his way into the final alongside former teammate Stanley "the bear" Hayer.  Stanley, as usual, exploded out of the gate determined to stand on the podium.  Kraus touched skis with Casey Puckett, lost some speed and found himself trailing the others.  He caught a little bit too much air on a jump that he crashed hard on earlier and again went down.  Stanley was pushing Puckett hard and forced the leader to make a fatal error that caused him to launch himself off a monster Les Contamines backwards landing rag doll hard.  Stanley spent a bit too long enjoying the ultra high speed USA backwards bail flail and the sneeky little fellow with the pink helmet liner squeaked on by for the FIS World Cup Skicross Les Contamines 2010 historical win.  In this skigeeks opinon the best skicross race ever.

The World Champion picked himself up and finished 3rd overall and once again shared the podium with fellow Fun Clubber Stanley "too tall to be Canadian" Hayer, and the winner Xavier Kuhn.  Wow...

And they extended the track.  It dont get any better than that.

 Skicross legend Zdenek Šafář had a great qualifying run and put in a amazing effort to finish in 25th just behind the Swiss superstar Andreas Steffen.  Way to go Zdenek.
