At the final event of the 2009 FIS World Cup of Ski Cross season, held at the pristine peaks of La Plagne, France, Ophelie David won her 6th race of the FIS World Cup of Skicross season and was crowned for her 6th time the World Champion of Ski Cross, a World Cup title. In the process, she also won her second consecutive overall Freestyle World Cup title and Crystal Globe.

Katharina Gutensohn of Austria finished 2nd in the season´s overall rankings. She finished ahead of Canada's Kelsey Serwa and fellow Austrian, Karin Huttary.
In the men's ski cross event, Czech Champion, Tomas Kraus claimed victory in the final event, and as a result secured his 4th World Cup of Skicross title. Christopher Delbosco, of Canada, finished 8th at La Plagne, thus securing him 2nd in the season´s overall rankings. Lars Lewen, of Sweden, placed 3rd in the overall, and Zdenek Safar finished in 15th at La Plagne and 28th overall in the FIS World Cup of Skicross Rankings.
