FIS World Cup Skicross updates

Good news comes with 10 days before the official start of the 2009/2010 FIS World Cup Skicross series.  The orginizers of the first event, to be held at San Candido, Italy, have confirmed that the race will occur as scheduled.  This means that the first training will be on Saturday December 19, 2009.  Qualification will take place on Sunday followed by 2 races. 

The organizers plan to begin building the course this weekend.  The lower portions of the track will probably consist of man made snow, but this will depend on the weather.  The weather forecast is predicting extreme cold with somewhere around minus 25 degrees Celsius.  Get your swix wax warm and start a waxing them babies up.  Yeahhaww.

The Czech Skicross team is currently preparing for the events in the Austrian Alps.  Eight Czech superskicrossers, including The World Champion of Skicross, Tomáš Kraus, have registered for the events.  This is a tribute to The World Champion of Skicross, and symbolizes the beginning of Tomáš Kraus´ 8th FIS World Cup Skicross season.  This will also include his 1st Olympic Skicross appearance, which will occur during the historical inauguation of Skicross as an official Olympic discipline.  Wow, did you just say history in the making.  Gotta love them Czechs, and their beer girls.

The first World Cup events in Italy will be the first of the season and the last in 2009.  After the New Year´s celebrations the World Cup series will continue in the world reknown area of Kitzbuhlel, at the skicross capital of Austria, St. Johann.

The series will then move on to the skicross capital of France, Les Contamines, where the views of Mont Blanc scare the crap out of me.  Gotta love Les Contamines, where the French are hard.  Be there or be deprived. dmb
